centerboard line

Rainwater is collecting in the companionway step channel that also serves as the centerboard line conduit that leads out to the cockpit.

After 15 years, it started leaking onto the cabin floor. No big deal - I just pulled it out and will re-caulk. What has anyone done to prevent that water from just collecting in there? Drill vent holes maybe? I am also replacing the vinyl hose - it's all grunged but still in good shape.

The floor fitting is still good but I just don't like the idea of water collecting in there for months.
