While wrecking my spine last week, I got pretty DAMNED tired of the fillits. Seemed like excess work, had to think of a better way. So, while the CB trunk was slowly destroying my lumbar vertebrae's, I thought "Wood fillits!" I am cutting each piece of this edge out 'free hand'. Keep bouncing my circular saw from 90 degrees, to 45 degrees, and back again. Extra work, 'gotta stay pretty focused due to making some cuts upside down (to get the right angle), etc. Some pieces, well, there's a number of angles. Anyway, you can see some of this, especially right there in the inner corner. Because of this, I don't have to mess around building up any more of those frigging fillits. That makes me happy!
Remember, even though I have the fore and aft bulkheads, and the entire seams, fore-to-aft, each side, fiberglassed with epoxy and shredded 'glass, I am still going to layer a second coat of West Marine 'epoxy-fiberglass-epoxy' over it all. And it's because of this final layer, specifically the cloth, that I'm doing the fillits. Without the fillits, I'll have nothing but air pockets where I try to bend the cloth into (and then out of) a 90 degree corner.
Ah... sorry, for the lecture guys, I'm sure you understand.
