As I stated previously, I was 'racing' a bit of a squall I can feel coming this afternoon. Forward is seen where I started to grind/bevel the topside 'closure' seam of the sole. I halted that due to expected rain, and instead went straight to attaching the edge out. The screws, as such, are only in as a 'soft' temporary. They are simply holding the attached edge out pieces softly to the sole until the wet out dries. After which, the screws will be removed, than the sanding of the closure seam will take place. The finishing screws will go into these same screw holes, coated. I did NOT like the look of the 3/4" Stainless screws. Just didn't look like they'd have enough of a bite into the lower 1/2" edge out! Even though the screws may not be necessary, what with the cured epoxy holding everything together fine, I shall use them. What I did, was pick up 1" screws, as I cannot find them in 7/8ths. This means that I grind off the 'tip' of each screw, as I do not want it entering into the tank proper. Thus, I actually get the screw to 'bite' through (almost) the entire edge out.
With the 3/4" screws, it simply looked like I'd get too small of a bite. Like stated, may not be needed, but from a psych standpoint... glad I'm putting in the SS screws. Not much edgeout left to do. Once done, it's the compression posts' time (rebuild), then glass the interior. After that, it's simply stitch her shut, let her cure for a few days, get her into the wet.
