Schock only put a few inches of sealer, say, 6", and only on the extreme forward 'tip' of the trunk. I think (pure speculation on my part) that, in turn, allowed a little 'give' underfoot on the sole. That would definately explain why in the past, when someone openned her up to make the non-OEM valve... well, perhaps you'll recall the pic I posted showing where they had added glass as far as they could reach (fore and aft), attaching the trunk to the under-sole. I mean, I can't understand why else they would have done this, unless they wanted to remove a little of the underfoot 'give'. I'll probably put a few layers of wet glass atop the trunk edge, fill that (3/16?) void, then immediately lay the sole in place.
Hey, Seth, here's a laugh at my expense! I glassed the CB bolts/nuts in place, went to work. Later that afternoon, realized I'd forgotten to coat the extruding bolt threads with either wax or light oil. Son of a biscuit! Yep, to late when I got home. I'll be having to lightly chisel that glass off, see if I can get the bolt free/loose, do it again. Otherwise, I'd have to cut her open in the future when needing to remove the CB bolts as they're currently hard in place, can't unscrew them from under the hull!
What did you find worked best on the threads to prevent the epoxy from bonding the bolt in place? Wax? Oil? Obviously, I *DO* need to be able to unscrew the bolts from underneath in the future.
