As you can see, I elected to go the OEM route. Quite frankly, I was ready to tie things up. Encapsulated the components, and you should be able to see the multiple layers of glass I added. Along the bottom/base I have between 3 and 5 layers of glass. Yeah, yeah, I know, but what the hey? Less glass rising. I have to remove the starboard side SS screw which transfixes the aluminum compression post to the sole. EXACTLY like the original OEM (darn it!) I find the screw presses into the outboard SIDE of the support. So, I'll have to drill her in at a slight angle. The deck plate I am leaving in for a reason. Primarily, I want to be able to wet/vac the residual water out of the tank each fall. While no Einstein, it was readily apparent to me that the break down of the santana tank is probably due, at least in it's initial phases, by freeze-thaw-freeze. Least, I'd stake my dollar an that being the initial phase. Also, I found that the wet-vac won't do it alone, as I will have to eventually reach in there with a sponge and get out the last residual half gallon or so.
Think about it: exactly WHY are we leaving water in our boats all winter? (I promise you it won't evaporate by spring)
