The forces of a few feet of water are very small pressures (3 ft is about 1.5 psi). You don't have very many square inches in that port.

Slow leak is more of a risk.

Another is if someone opens it out of curiosity when you aren't looking!

Be safe.

In the lost post, I made some suggestions about how you might fill the gap, but its moot now. Looks good. What color paint?
