They will unscrew themselves if they are not pinned. It's not like a bolt that you tighten to keep from coming loose. If it's too short you could add a shackle between it and the chainplate. Be sure you've looked everything over well for mistakes. Unless the shroud had been replaced with something the wrong size it should fit. Do a search for a tuning guide to get you set up close to start with. Bob
