Draining the ballast tank with a bilge pump?

I was wondering if anybody had ever tried draining the ballast tank of a 1993 2023C using a simple bilge/water pump? My thought is this would allow me to store it in the water/a marina slip for an extended period of time when not using it without concern for ballast tank rot.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Ken
