Thanks for all the info.

I see that the vane indicates apparent wind. I've got to "chew" on that for a while before I really understand it, but it's coming.

I put the vane up before I got all the info, so the tabs are set at 45 degrees on each side. You're all right, I was sailing inside the tabs when close hauled, but I think I'll leave them as they are at least until I have to unstep the mast again.

It's nice having it up there. Sure beats a tie that I have to wear at least once, or even black deck shoes!
