When the wind is stronger, and you are going hull speed, go much closer to straight-line downwind... even DDW with asymm wing-and-wing. It can be tricky, the best way is slightly by the lee and eased the sheet so the sail goesforward of the headstay a little.
To sail a really deep angle with a asymmetric, ease the halyard a little and the tack line a little more. That lets the sail "rotate" or come to the windward side of the boat as you ease the sheet; gets more projected area & a wider slot between the luff & the mainsail. If the sail starts to oscillate, pull the halyard back some, if it gets wild, head up to more of a reach. Death-rolling is slow!
I have loved sailing with asymmetric spinnakers and feel like going back to the old fashioned symmetric & pole is just really a PITA. Fortunately I have capable crew who loves pulling all the strings & running around on the foredeck.
