Deck Harware Question

Ok all you "Old Salts" time to put all that experience to use! I want to add a couple of cleats at midship to handle additional dock lines and was wondering if I need to use chocks at the edge of the deck with the cleats inboard (like those at the bow and stern) or can I just put the cleats at the deck edge and skip the chocks?
