It may seal, but pity the person who has to try to remove it when it fails (as all caulk must, eventually), or to EVER paint in that area. It's a real bear.

I think there are other types of caulks (the choice depending on the individual caulking situation) that work as well or better and don't have these disadvantages, so they would be my choice (and the choice I always hope the PO of any boat I own made as well).
