I'd say the following would make a boat more "off-shore" worthy (this is a quick off the cuff list): - capsize ratio <2 (i.e. heavy & narrow) - full keel for better tracking - a wind driven auto-pilot for those consistent ocean breezes - rigging run aft to cock-pit for lowering/reefing in heavy weather without leaving cock-pit
