between the motor mount and front bulkhead of the well and the transom. We looked at it- just isn't gonna happen.
We had originally thought of pulling the motor when sailing outside, and laying it cross ways in the lazzerete. But we discovered that with a larger engine it isn't happening because the tiller handle sticks through the front of the bulkhead and can't be easily lifted. Plus laying the engine down cross ways negates using a 4 stroke- on whatever tack put the power head on the low side would flood the cylinders with oil from the crankcase.
So I anti fouled the lower unit and we live with the drag. Now our 2.2 Merc would fit in and out easily, but you aren't gonna go very far using a motor like that.
