Just a note: I believe they were both "Tripp 30" designs...

One built at Mechan's in Scotland in the early 60s, and one built by van Lent in Holland - I forget now but I think either in the 70s or 80s.

The "Tripp-Lentsch" was a different design, and was 29 feet long. It was built in Holland as well, but the basic design was done by Tripp after he designed the Tripp 30.

I don't know how either of these relate to the Tripp 31, as I'm not familiar with that boat.

I'm also curious about the fins. That said it was not uncommon for similar CCA-era designs to have some weather helm as the wind pipes up - it's "normal" practice to tuck a reef in th main to counteract it.
