After seeing what sort of "filling" is used in the keel (thanks to Jay), I'm wary of doing anything that could introduce a crack in the glass. Does your boat sit plumb when she's in the mud? It's falling over to one side that would really scare me, by putting all the boat's weight on the edge. I'm going to do it in the dink. Guess if you want to be safe resting on your keel, something like the article belosw suggests would work:
