CB mast????

Is this the JB (Joe) from San Diego who owns a Monty 17 (Seranita)? If so, how goes it Joe? I sold my M17 a few months ago. I too am looking at a 1996 Seaward 23 CAT rigged.
I did some research on this board and found some great info on boat (easy to launch/rig, stable, well built (most of boat), etc..
I did find some info that concerns me.....the CB mast. I have read it was a problem (thin at top, cracks at top and/or bottom near mast base, etc..
While anything can be repaired/replaced on a boat, the mast can be costly due the materials/labor to construct.
I hope others here can comment/attest to the CB mast, its weaknesses, how to check for problems, are repairs possible, and cost to replace.
I like the boat, but he CB mast has me very concerned!!!!!!
