A big section of ice drifted over by the only open boat ramp. There was a small opening but I decided it wasn't worth it to launch
But my back-up plan worked out just fine (I had thrown Lori's yak in the truck and was good to go )
I could tell that the SP was sad to be left behind but I wasn't taking any chances with that stinkin ice
It was really nice out and the usual suspects were out and about, enjoying the sun too
But they didn't think much of me and moved their party elsewhere
After breaking up the goose party, I paddled a big loop around the north end of the lake and then came back by the boat ramp and went on by towards the south. By the time I got to the other end of the lake, the wind had dried up and the water got pretty smooth
I zoomed in and there was that sad old boat again
I made another big loop around the south end of the lake and made my way back to the ramp. The ice had moved off just a bit more and I briefly considered sailing after all but decided I'd had enough and packed it up. The temp is forcast to be in the 60's all week so the ice won't last long here. Hopefully I'll be pulling sheets by next week.
I got home and those snow geese were still hanging out on the ice over by the powerhouse
After a while they all started lifting up off the ice in big waves and seemed like they were heading out. It went on for an hour or so. It was quite a sight.
It was dead silent by sundown and I haven't heard a single honk since. You suppose that they're heading on North?
Lots of signs of Spring going on... Won't be long and it'll be time to sail!!!!!!!!!!!!
