Thought I'd post this as a FYI and for discussion as well. Kind of interesting cuz you use it on car fenders etc and it could get wet there too. Oh well... who am I to argue.

I faired my rudder with bondo, I've noticed one crack on the aft edge above the waterline since the job. Funny,... I don't think I used any bondo on that particular spot. The fairing that I did do with bondo was sanded down to such a thin layer that I doubt that it'll give me any trouble. If it does... I'll just grind it down and re-fair it with the 3M product that is mentioned(or West System fairing compound). The rudder is sealed just fine under the bondo. I ain't too worried about it.
On a brighter note, I used the West System fairing compound to fair up all the keel work so no worries there.
Too bad regarding the bondo issue, it's very easy stuff to work with and I became a pro immediately while using it.
