Well... I wondered how it would absorb any water

if it's sealed properly with epoxy and/or barrier coat.

On my rudder, I coated with one layer of epoxy and then 3 or 4 layers of West System barrier coat. The keel got a layer of epoxy and 5 layers of barrier coat. I doubt that it's gonna leak... but cha never know.

On a lesser note, A forum member from the main board said that his boat developed blisters after using West barrier coat, however, that was only 2 coats and 3+ years in warm salt water. (West System recommends 5 or 6 coats or 20 mil thickness for adequate coating)

Either way, I'm not going to lose much sleep over it. The way I look at it... you can either sit around and worry about stuff like this, or you can just go sailing.
