I bought the machine at a yard sale for $15 I figure it is between 35 and 40 years old. Got all the materials from Sail Rite. Used Top Gun fabric since that is what they use for their riding sail, it is heavy stuff, I asked why and Dan at the store said so it doesn't flutter. I bought the recomended #20 needles and V-92 thread. Also a real help was the basting tape, it's like doubel sided tape but no paper. You have to rub it on real had, then pull the paper off. But the the material will stay togeather untill it is sewn. I used a bent coat hanger to hold the spool of thread. The bigest problem I had were the bobbins they are 2 piece and only hold enough thread for about 10 feet of zig zag sewing.

Materials were about $80 that was 3 yard of top Gun material, 1 roll Seamstick 3/8 for canvas 60yrd, 1 1oz 250 yrd V-92 thread, 1 pk of 10 needles.

The machine didn't have enough power to start in over 4 layers of material so I turned the wheel by hand no problem.
