In Response To: Jay, I am looking at her waterline in that pic (Paul 1989 S23 "Half Moon", NJ)

First, as a fellow previous Catalina owner, I remember Dan posting once in a while on the C22 list - similar to this forum...

With three growing boys, interested in sailing, I frequented a local "sailboatshop" near the lake we sailed - and indeed bought various boats for the little ones from there, including a Venture 21, and a Herman 17 Cat boat.

For the longest time they had a 23 Seaward sitting on their lot - I believe it was a 1999 model, for $18,000 - too much for my wallet. But I had fallen in love with her lines. Then, a year or two later, as I was using my C22 more and more on larger water (Chesapeake, Long Island Sound, Raritan Bay), and became more and more concerned about the 500 lbs swingkeel hanging off that bronze pin, I spotted my current boat somewhere in an add, sitting in Groton, CT. My son and I took a ride up and, after some haggling and having the owner put new tires on the trailer (while we waited) we drove her to her new home that same day.

A month later I sold the 2002 9.9 hp Honda fourstroke it came with for $1,500, along with the 15 gallon tank the PO had it connected to (he used it as a trawler) and thus recuced the overall price to under $9,000...

Sold the Catalina for $5,000... (bought it 10 years earlier for $4,000)

Found y'all her on this forum - and thouroughly enjoyed being a Seaward owner thus far... she's a great boat and I still look back each time as I take the launch back to the club docks, leaving her at her mooring.
