pardon if I butt in on the 2ft itiss stories. as a wanabbe S25 owner and the longest dry run without a sailboat in my adult life I share my story. some 30 yrs ago I bought my first sailboat, a Prindle 16 cataman. the only thing I knew about sailing was that as a kid I always wanted to. a couple monthes later with the help of a sailing book, I taught myself to sail in the Destin Pass. the worst place in the area because of the boat traffic but, at the time I didnt know any better. fast forward 10 years and couple kids and it's time for a small cabin crusier. an old used Precision 18 was to be had to a mere $3200, sold the Prindle for $1800 and only $1400 in. great little family crusier for the Florida Panhandle. load the family up sail over to Santa Rosa Island and camp out. fast forward another 10 yrs more or less, bam! divoice, sell everything, split the sheets, and divide up! the next summer knowing that one of the main things that the kids and I loved doing together was sailing, I (still broke from the divoice) found an old Venture 24 for $1200. well, I found the lady whom I am presently married to (wonderful lass) and introduced her to sailing on the ole V24. lucky for me, she come to love me as much as she came to love sailing! turn the page forward a few more years and April and I purchase a Catalina 25. lots of great memories on the C25. time moves on and we move up to Catalina 30. I honestly believe the C30 is the best boat for the money, that can be had. before I get toooooooo many different opinions on that, let me emphasise "for the money"! anyway, Hurricane Ivan took my C30 and now I am looking for the Seaward 25 because of the draft. as stated before the bayou I just built my home on is waaaaaaaaaaay to shallow for a C30. so, if I want to (which I do!) step out my back door and get on my boat. she is goin have to draw 2ft or less.............so the moral to this extra long BSer story is: as time changes, so does your ideal boat!
