I liked the lines of a Fox that friends' own. I began looking and found Raggedy Annie on the web. It was in Mystic, Conn. I negotiated a deal and had it parked by some friends' garden in Rhode Island for the summer. I went out in the fall (from northern Michigan) and towed her to Delaware where the refit was done at Dave Laux's place near Georgetown. I knew Dave and Donna from sailing/meeting with them in the North Channel. Dave gave me instruction and set me to work every day. I did it all from fiberglass and epoxy to painting and replacing ports and installing a new foredeck hatch. It was wonderfully fun to learn so much at such a nice workshop and to have such great instruction from a perfectionist and competent instructor. Dave has been a boat builder for over 30 years. I sailed for a few weeks in the Chesapeake Bay and then towed RA to my brother's place near Asheville, NC. In the spring I drove down and went to the coast and sailed there after buying a 4hp Nissan. Then I towed her home to northern Michigan and the North Channel. The rest is history!
