I have alway tried to DIY but, as you mentioned sometimes it just does not pay on the long run. please keep me posted on what you decide. I have this wild idea to maybe just take a 5/8" pc of plyboard and cut it to fit the rear section of the cockpit. basically from where the gas tank is, and have it run across the stern. that space under the tiller is useless anyway. then when I upgrade my motor to one with a charger I can keep the battery under there. this would give me a base to mount store bought seats. I have been looking at some of the "bicyle" type seats used on bass boats. I could do this very easy and cheap. about $150 total. of course, with a wheel this is not an option and sure would not be a professional or pretty.
