'common'. Doubt that is a natural occurence. From gooped-up leading edge it looks like it's been repaired before. Would be indicative to me of some mishap though not necessarily one that is disastrous to the structure of boat. Ample supply of clowns out there hitting things, grounding, mishandling in loading on trailers/cradles/blocks, etc.. There are people in this forum that have done these and other repairs that can advise. Who knows, maybe somebody got washed up on a beach somewhere..
