Thanks Giorgio, that method worked great.

We started off by using the winch and crane at the marina. This got the mast up quickly, until someone said "How do you detach the winch cable from the top of the mast?" We all had a good chuckle, but no easy answer for that.

After it was quite clear that nobody wanted to test the mast integrity with a bosun's chair, we brought it back down and went with your method. Five minutes and she was up! Now i just need to find a source for a new turnbuckle on the forestay. Someone held it in place previously with vise grips to the point where the threads are no longer serviceable.
