Here is where I read about the inboard engines.....this came from Rory Stauber's old website, which Wayne is running now, I think..... Is this information still available somewhere on the SouthCoastUS site???

Check it out under "Mechanical" heading

South Coast 26A Features

Standing Rigging

Aluminum anodized mast and boom with jiffy reefing, stainless steel wire standing rigging, forged open-barrel turnbuckles with toggles, split backstay, hinged mast step.

Running Rigging

Halyards: stainless steel wire rope spliced to dacron tails, roller bearing main sheet traveler with control lines, two genoa tracks, two blocks on sliders, dacron sheets.

Hull

Hand laid fiberglass, unidirectional roving, thru hull fittings below waterline with sea cock.

Deck

Fiberglass with expensive end cut balsa core, as in the finest offshore racers, for light weight and strength. Anchor locker on fore deck for quick accessibility and safety. Forward hatch on coach roof, keeping foredeck clear for sun bathing. Teak toe rails, teak hand rails.

Cockpit

Large, seats eight for cocktails. Gas tank shelf under port bench for easy accessibility, two large sail lockers, port and starboard, with ice box access through starboard locker. Self bailing cockpit, with deep high combing for back rest and convenient crew work area.

Steering

Retractable rudder, tiller standard, wheel steering optional.

Keel

Highly effective fin keel, offering no cable in the water, and no turbulence from keel housing. Hydrodynamically designed. Raised and lowered by electric winch with mechanical override in case of power failure.

Mechanical

Inboard power using the OMC 15 h.p. Zephyr petro or the Baldwin diesel installation is available, or easily installed later, however, a 7.5 long shaft outboard has proven adequate.

Electrical

Electric winch raises or lowers keel, individually fused electric panel, coast guard approved navigation lights, four cabin lights, electric pump for pressure water in sink.

Cabin

6' headroom in main cabin easily seats ten in "U" shaped main salon (editor's note: 10 dwarfs, maybe), four berths, five optional, interior finished with teak. Stowage under all bunks, cedar chest locker under starboard aft bunk.

Head: standing headroom with real teak telephone type folding door, marine head with internal holding tank, sink with storage under, hanging locker area aft.

Galley: Sink with 24 gallon water tank, pressure feed, stove area with storage cabinet under, ice box access from inside, ice loads from cockpit.
