I do not worry about heeling, I am a cruiser not a racer and do not get into heeling way over. If the boat heels to the point where my cold beverage attempts to leave its container in some place other then my mouth I am heeling too much and make adjestments. Standing on the side of the cockpit to keep from falling off your seat is tiring and certainly not relaxing. Anytime the boat reaches a certain point of heeling, the sail's angle..do to the heeling..causes the wind to spill and decreases the forces on the boat. So unless you take a sudden powerful gust while opening a cold one and are not controling the boat, you should not worry about a knock down. Sail in YOUR comfort zone...you will have more fun.
