To achieve maximum speed and efficiency, most boats have a developed hull length which limits its speed to about 7/8 knots.( single hull, non racing boat) to achieve these speeds a list or heel of about 15 degrees is what the designer had in mind. If you are sailing at greater than 15 degrees I beleve you are exceeding the SC's developed hull lenght and will not achieve any greater speed.
My small experiance with my 22, after 10 years as a regular on a 34 footer, is that it takes a pretty good wind to heel to 15 degrees and any novice sailors on board will be mighty apprenhensive of sailing with you again. So If you want to keep the crew happy, keep it below 15 degrees and let every one enjoy the cruse and the cold drinks. Margareita anyone?
