I pulled my boat out yesterday, They have called for a mandatory evacuation of Galveston. They may call for one here tomorrow, we shall see. I was talking with a guy at the dock and he was taking all kinds of stuff off of his boat. He said he was taking off anything he can use on his next boat, if the hurricane hits here. We bought water, batteries, can foods etc today. Had a hard time finding water, the shelves were empty. All Vienna sausages were gone too!
Rita's movement has slowed down from 15 to 12 mph moving to the west. That is BAD, because there is a high over us which is slowly moving to the East. If Rita (margaRita) slows, it will give the high time to move East, causing Rita to turn North sooner, meaning we will take the hit! My house is only 20' above sea level! And Katrina was pushing a 35' storm surge into Mississippi!
