Most people just put a cleat near the transom for the control line. Some put a swivel block w/cam cleat on the transom. However, us racers do not like to have to turn around backwards to control our sails. Accordingly, all the control lines (traveler, backstay and mainsheet) are lead forward from the transom. This traveler line uses 3 cheek blocks on each side to turn the line forward and another cheek block near the floor of the cockpit to turn it up, where it is then run through a cam cleat on the side of the front of the seats. I have mounted mine on the back of the seats and have mixed feelings about that. The main drawback is that it takes multiple strokes to get the traveler all the way to windward in light air. With the cleat mounted lower, you could raise the traveler all the way with one full length hoist. So, it would be quicker, but would delay you getting up on the rail. Perhaps one could hoist the traveler to the new windward position while tacking... that would be idle.
