I was given an old catboat once because a friend knew someone that knew someone that had an old boat he didn't want. It was a great little boat. I sold it to a friend for a pitatance(less than I put into it fixing it up). He and his kids are enjoying it and I got someone else interested in sailing. I will also keep my eyes out for a good deal. They usually are not advertised.
